NGC 7000 North America Nebula

NGC 7000 — the North America Nebula

An emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus, near the bright star Deneb, whose outline famously recalls the continent of North America — complete with a Gulf of Mexico and a Florida-like peninsula along the glowing Cygnus Wall.

Lying about 2,590 light-years from Earth, NGC 7000 spans roughly 120 × 100 arcminutes on the sky (more than ten times the area of the full Moon) and stretches some 90 light-years from north to south. Together with the neighboring Pelican Nebula (IC 5070), it forms part of the vast ionized-hydrogen complex Sh 2-117.

This album gathers processed views of the nebula — including final composites, star-recomposition results, and Astro Wizard renders — capturing the deep reds of hydrogen emission and the dark dust lanes that sculpt its familiar shape.
